![]() I created two profiles, one to do a one way sync of my ACT! database and the other was to do a one way sync of the calendar in Outlook 2007. ![]() Unfortunately, even with tech support assistance, we could never get the product to perform even the simplest task. DejaHub is free and there is a 14 day trial on CompanionLink Express 5 for the PC. But wireless would be *awesome* (but that's really not "more flexible", that's truly a new feature and I would have to imagine much more difficult than the above).I decided to take the plunge and just test it out. I'd be happy if I could just say "my DBs are there, go sync with them", no matter where they are on the computer (i.e. Yes, all of what Dan said is what I had in mind, but he gave a more thorough response than I did. but it would help the user with no other options. It becomes a multi-step process, which is prone to errors, so you may end up with complaints that "sync didn't work". But, also, we could get the file there any way we want to, and copy or mail it back to the phone after doing the sync. Or - add an option that lets the user point to a database - even a local one - to sync with. ![]() For example, there are several ways to set up a drive using FTP. Or - have an option to remove the restriction that it only looks for removable drives. The other 2 products I have that do sync use TCP/IP. moneil Posts: 56 Joined: Fri 10:15 amĬurtterp wrote:How would you make HDB sync to be more flexible? How would you like to see it work? Put me down as one who is REALLY HAPPY to have USB cable sync back. While the Pre survived its time with the cows I was a nervous wreak not being able to regularly back up the handheld with the laptop (USB cable sync) as I was able to with the Palm Tungeston E and TX (until Vista, when I couldn’t USB cable sync those either). Things happen – devices fall into stock water tanks, cows stand on the devices, cows deposit bodily fluids and “other stuff” on the devices (yeah, I’m clumsy and drop my devices). In the field I may be several hours (or days) away from a wi-fi connection. I work with cows and often use the handheld to have records available “cow side” and to collect field data, both about the cows and the cow owners. I use CompanionLink to USB cable sync pim info between the PC and the phone (both with the Palm Pre and now the Android) but had to wi-fi between HanDBase and the Pre. Unlike some I do not live in a 24/7 wi-fi world and really appreciated, after switching from WebOS to Android, that I could now USB cable sync HanDBase. I want to say “NO complaints from me” regarding cable sync for Android. Regarding wireless sync, the main reason HanDBase for Android doesn't have it is that it's the number one complaint on iPhone! Everyone there wanted a cable sync- when developing for Android, I thought, 'Oh good, looks like a cable sync will be possible here, and I'll have no more complaints about it!'. Just have to remember to rechoose the drive letter if you add/remove a drive from the computer. for some people, it will work, me not so much.ĭave - I do like the idea of picking the Drive letter to sync to. I do not have any interest in syncing in the cloud. I don't turn the WiFi on very often on my phone, but I could just as easily sync wirelessly and it is still secure on my network. ![]() I have always synced with a cable, so I guess that it has been ingrained in my thinking to always sync with a cable. All I had to do was plug in my Windows Mobile device into the dock and it synced every time. Palm did a nice job of sync with the computer, but Windows Mobile was better than the Palm. It helped me understand what you could/want to do that would help with the problem that you have with the tablet.
